Privacy policy
Last updated: [Date the legal pages were last reviewed]
This policy explains what personal data Public Holidays World (“we”) processes when you visit publicholidaysworld.com. The site is run by [Site owner name], [Country of the site owner], who is the data controller. Contact: [contact email].
What we process
- Country detection. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, adds a two-letter country code to each request based on your IP address. The home page asks our server for this code to suggest your country. We do not store it, and we do not receive your IP address in our code.
- Weather forecasts. Pages with a forecast ask our server for the weather at a fixed place (a capital city or a trip destination, never your location). Our server gets the forecast from the Norwegian Meteorological Institute (MET Norway) and keeps a copy for 30 minutes. Nothing about you is sent to MET Norway.
- Hosting logs. Like any web host, Cloudflare processes technical data (such as IP address, browser type and requested page) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. SeeCloudflare’s privacy policy.
- Settings in your browser. If you switch between light and dark theme, or answer the advertising consent question, your choice is saved in your browser’s local storage. It never leaves your device.
- Email. If you email us, we use your message and address only to reply, and delete them when no longer needed.
What we do not do
We do not use analytics or tracking tools, we do not create user accounts, and we do not sell personal data. The site currently shows no advertising.
Advertising
If we add advertising in the future, ads that use cookies will load only after you accept them, and this policy and the cookie policy will be updated first.
Calendar links
“Add to calendar” buttons open Google Calendar or Outlook in a new tab with the holiday filled in. Those services are run by Google and Microsoft under their own privacy policies. The Apple / .ics option downloads a file and contacts no one.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example under the EU and UK GDPR), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data about you, to object to processing, and to complain to your data protection authority. Contact us at [contact email] to use these rights.
Changes
We will update this page when our practices change, and change the date at the top.
