About Saint John the Baptist
The Synaxis of Saint John the Baptist on 7 January follows the day after Epiphany in the Orthodox calendar and honours the prophet who baptised Jesus in the river Jordan. Saint John is one of the most venerated saints in Romania, and the day is a public holiday.
